One path. Many tools.

Your path is one, and it is yours alone. But on the way from where you are to where you want to be, you don't have to be alone. People with knowledge and empathy can make that path easier and quicker. That is what I bring. When we meet, you meet everything I have learned: conversation and counselling, constellations, ThetaHealing®, PEAT, holistic regression therapy, Access techniques and autogenic training. And everything life has taught me. For each session we choose together what helps you most at that moment.

What is Progress Zone?

The space between what is and what can be.

We all know the comfort zone: what is familiar and safe, and often keeps us stuck. Beyond it lies the zone where we grow. There we are not enough on our own, but with the right support we can get further than we would by ourselves.

Psychologist Lev Vygotsky called this the zone of proximal development: the space between what we can already do alone and what we can do with someone guiding us. Progress Zone is exactly that space. A place where you get just enough support to take the next step, and then you take it with your own strength.

Progress doesn't mean something is wrong with you right now. It means there is always more to life. It means you are ready for more clarity, inner peace and joy.

Not everything has to be hard to be worthwhile. If you are ready for more ease, you are in the right place.

Tihana Babić with open arms at a viewpoint above the sea
There are always more possibilities ahead of us than we can see from where we stand.

Progress Zone is for you…support for more

  • You feel stuckThe same patterns keep repeating in your relationships, at work or within yourself, and you can't see a way out.
  • You need supportYou are going through a change, a loss or a demanding period and don't want to carry it alone.
  • You are looking for inspirationYou want a new view of your life, new ideas and an incentive to get going.
  • You want to growYou feel it is time for the next step and you are ready to discover what else you can do.

Either way, the goal is the same: your progress.

What I believe

We can always change our perspective.

Even when a situation seems unsolvable, we can always change the way we look at it. Everything that happens to us is feedback, not a verdict.

Where “must” ends, choice begins.

Together we look for the line between what you think you must do and what you actually choose. Freedom begins at that line.

He who has a why can bear almost any how.

When we find meaning, even difficult steps become possible. That is why our work often begins with a question: why does this matter to you?

After a thought by Friedrich Nietzsche, made famous by Viktor Frankl
A new place calls for a new path.

What brought us to a situation will not take us where we want to be. We look for that new path together.

About counselling and treatments

What counselling and each treatment look like

A short description of each method: what it is, what a session looks like and who it is for. If you are not sure what to choose, book a free half-hour consultation and we will choose together.

What they have in common

Traumas, difficult emotions, limiting beliefs, defeating decisions and judgements we once made about ourselves, emotional charges or karma, whatever we call them, do not stay only in our minds. We also carry them in our bodies: in tension, in breathing, in reactions that come before we have time to think. Some call this cellular memory. Contemporary research on stress and trauma shows that the body remembers what we have lived through, and more than that: the consequences of difficult experiences are passed down from generation to generation through family patterns, and recent research shows that we are only beginning to learn how they may also be passed on biologically, as early results suggest. That is why we sometimes carry what we did not live through ourselves.

All the techniques I work with, each in its own way, serve the same purpose: to release this and open space for something new, for ease and for success.

Integrative counselling

In person or online · 60 min
What it is
My core way of working. Conversation and counselling are the foundation of every session, and when needed I include other methods I know.
What a session looks like
You come with a topic that matters to you. First we talk, and then together we choose the method or combination that suits you best at that moment. We end the session with integration: what has emerged and what your next steps are.
Who it is for
For anyone who doesn't know where to start, for complex topics and for those who want a holistic approach.

Systemic constellations

Individual and group · in person and online · 90 min
What it is
A method that grew out of systemic and family work, developed by Bert Hellinger. It starts from the idea that we are part of larger systems, families, partnerships or work teams, and that patterns from these systems influence our decisions and relationships. In constellations we enter a space without space and a time without time. Information comes from the Field that knows everything, also called the knowing field in constellation work. It shows how something really is, or was, rather than how our interpretations see it.
What a session looks like
In individual work we represent members of the system with figures or markers on the floor and observe how they are placed in relation to each other. In a group, participants take on this role as representatives. Such a picture often opens up a view that is hard to reach through conversation.
Who it is for
For recurring family patterns, entangled relationships, important decisions and relationships at work.

ThetaHealing®

In person and online · 60 min
What it is
A technique for working with beliefs and emotions, developed by Vianna Stibal. The name comes from theta brain waves. The brain constantly produces electrical rhythms of different frequencies. Theta waves accompany a state of deep relaxation, when we are in a state of inner peace and yet aware. The technique is based on the idea that in this state we can more easily reach the deep beliefs that guide our lives, and change them more easily.
What a session looks like
Through conversation we look for the beliefs at the root of your topic. Then, in that state, we work on releasing them and replacing them with ones that support you. You are awake and actively involved the whole time.
Who it is for
For limiting beliefs about yourself, relationships, money, work and your own worth.

PEAT

In person and online · 60 min
What it is
A technique developed by Živorad Mihajlović Slavinski, designed for working with recurring emotional reactions and inner opposites. It rests on two concepts. Polarities are pairs of opposites between which we often find ourselves torn: acceptance and rejection, success and failure, love and fear, security and freedom. When we cling to one pole and run from the other, both keep us in tension. Charge is the emotional intensity carried by a memory, a situation or a thought: what “hits” us as soon as we think of it. PEAT helps release that charge and connect the opposites, so that the memory remains, but without the old weight, and peace replaces the feeling of being torn.
What a session looks like
You focus on an unpleasant emotion or topic, and I guide you through a short, clearly structured procedure. The work focuses on one topic per session.
Who it is for
For strong recurring reactions and inner conflicts, when you both want and don't want something at the same time.

Holistic regression therapy

Individual · in person and online · 120 min
What it is
Guided work in a state of deep relaxation, in which we return to past experiences, to the moment when it all began. Many of our reactions, fears and beliefs arose in early experiences, often in childhood, and remain stored in emotional memory even when we no longer remember the event itself. Memory research shows that a memory is not an unchangeable record: every time we return to it, it is reassembled and can be connected with new understanding. Holistic regression therapy relies on exactly this. We are not looking for perfectly accurate facts, but for the emotional root of the topic, so that we can see it through the eyes of the adult we are today.
What a session looks like
After an introductory conversation I guide you into a state of relaxation. You are aware and can stop at any moment. We look at the memories and images that arise from today's perspective, with an understanding we did not have back then.
Who it is for
When you feel that the root of something lies in the past, but you don't know exactly where.

Access Bars®

In person · 60 min
What it is
A technique from the Access Consciousness® system, developed in the early 1990s by Gary Douglas. It is based on a gentle touch on 32 points on the head, the so-called “bars”. According to the Access approach, each point is connected to one area of life, such as money, control, awareness, creativity, the body, communication, joy and sadness. In these areas we collect thoughts, beliefs, decisions, judgements and emotions for years, often unconsciously, and they shape the way we live. Bars is often described with the image of a computer: just as deleting unnecessary files frees up memory and makes the computer run faster again, Bars helps us let go of what no longer serves us and open space for new possibilities.
What a session looks like
You lie down, fully clothed and comfortable, while I lightly touch specific points on your head. There is no pressure, no massage and no effort on your part. You don't have to do or understand anything; it is enough to let go. Some people fall asleep, some talk, and some simply enjoy the silence. After a session many describe deep relaxation, a feeling of lightness and clarity, a calmer mind and better sleep.
Who it is for
For anyone overloaded with thoughts and obligations, under stress or feeling they are going round in circles. For those who need real rest, and for those who want to release old patterns and make space for something new. Bars is gentle and suitable for those encountering this kind of work for the first time.

Access Energetic Facelift®

In person · 60 min
What it is
A bodywork process from the Access Consciousness® system, performed with a gentle touch on the face, neck and other parts of the body. It starts from the idea that we carry judgements and beliefs we have accepted about ourselves in our faces and bodies: that we are old, tired, not beautiful enough, or that age must mean decline. Facelift helps release these judgements. Instead of needles and procedures, it offers gentleness, attention and relaxation.
What a session looks like
You lie down, fully clothed and comfortable, while I lightly touch specific points on your face and body. There is no pressure or massage. After a session many describe a fresher and more rested look, a more radiant face, a feeling of rejuvenation and deep relaxation, and over time a softer, friendlier relationship with their body and age.
Who it is for
For anyone who wants to do something nice for themselves, before an important event or simply to rest, and for those who want to change their relationship with their appearance and ageing. Facelift is not a cosmetic or medical procedure and does not replace one.

Access Consciousness® Body Process

In person · 60 min
What it is
Access Consciousness® has more than fifty bodywork processes, gentle touches that help the body release tension, stress and what has built up over the years. The body remembers knocks, falls, surgeries, stressful periods and difficult emotions, and carries them long after they have passed. Among the processes I use are Cellular Memory, which works with traces of old injuries, scars and traumas the body remembers, and MTVSS, one of the best-known Access processes, used to support the body and its natural balance. Alongside these I choose other processes according to your topic.
What a session looks like
You lie down fully clothed while I perform one or more processes we choose together. The touch is light, without massage or pressure. The body often shows by itself where it needs attention, and after a session many feel relaxed, lighter and more connected with themselves.
Who it is for
For tension and the effects of long-term stress, for a body that still carries old injuries or difficult periods, for the need for deep relaxation and for anyone who wants better contact with their own body. As a support alongside medical treatment, never instead of it.

FER technique

In person and online · 60 min
What it is
The FER transformation technique is used for working with emotional charges, fears, limiting decisions and beliefs, and past experiences, including those from childhood. It focuses on the cause of a topic, not only on what shows on the surface.
What a session looks like
You choose a topic, and I guide you through a series of questions and answers to its cause. First you become aware of the emotional charge connected with the topic, and then we release and integrate it together. All that matters is that you are honest with yourself.
Who it is for
For fears, recurring emotional reactions, limiting beliefs and old experiences that still weigh on you.

FER certification in progress through practical training.

What people come with

Most often not with one problem, but with a feeling that something keeps repeating.

You don't need to have a name for what troubles you. It is enough to feel that it is time for a change. These are the topics people most often come to me with, and many recognise themselves in several of them.

Relationships that get tangled in the same wayPartners change, but the story stays the same. Or the same conflict with the same person, again and again.
Family patternsA feeling that you are carrying something that is not only yours: burdens, roles or fates from your family. Or a feeling that your turn, and your life, will never come.
Major life changesDivorce, moving, loss, a new job, parenthood. When the old way no longer works and the new one is not yet clear.
Loss of direction and motivationEverything in your life seems fine, and yet meaning, joy or energy seem to be missing.
Thoughts that won't stopA mind that won't settle even at night, the same worries and scenarios going round, being unable to switch off.
Fears that give you no peaceFear of old age and loneliness, fear for your livelihood and future, fear that you won't succeed or that you will be left without support.
Overwhelming emotionsAnxiety, anger, sadness or guilt that come on more strongly than the situation calls for.
Work, money and worthCareer blocks, your relationship with money, a feeling that you are worth less than you give.
Your relationship with yourselfHarsh inner criticism, difficulty setting boundaries, a need to please everyone.
A body asking for restTension, exhaustion and stress that build up and need space to relax.
Dissatisfaction with yourselfA feeling that you are not who you could have been, regret about past life choices and the question of whether it could all have been different.
A wish for growth and inspirationWhen you would like to move forward but don't know where or how. When you feel there is more in you than you are living so far.

About the courses

Communication skills

In person or online · individual and group
What you learn
Communication is the foundation of every relationship, private and professional. In the course you learn to listen actively, to express what you think and need clearly and assertively, to read and use non-verbal cues, to give and receive feedback and to handle difficult conversations and conflicts calmly. You also learn how to build rapport with the person you are talking to and how to recognise your own communication style and the styles of others. All with understanding and empathy for yourself and others.
Who it is for
For individuals who want better relationships at home and at work, for teams and managers, teachers, students and anyone who works with people every day.
What it looks like
Interactive workshops with lots of exercises and real-life examples, tailored to your needs. I lead the training as a PhD in communication studies with many years of experience in teaching and working with people. We agree on length and scope together.

Presentation skills and public speaking

In person or online · individual and group
What you learn
How to prepare and deliver a talk that people listen to and remember. We work with Bernice McCarthy's 4MAT method, which builds a talk around the audience's four questions: why, what, how and what if. This way every listener gets what they need to understand and remember. We practise voice (pace, rhythm, tone and pauses), body language and use of space, stories and metaphors, and connecting with the audience. You also learn about Virginia Satir's communication styles, so that you stay calm and convincing even when it gets difficult.
Who it is for
For students defending their theses, professionals presenting at meetings and conferences, lecturers, educators and managers, and anyone who gets stage fright in front of an audience.
What it looks like
Practical exercises with short talks and concrete feedback, in a safe and relaxed atmosphere. Beyond technique, one thing matters most: staying true to yourself. The best speaker is the one who speaks honestly, in their own voice.

Negotiation skills

In person or online · individual and group
What you learn
Almost every human interaction is in some way a negotiation: when we make an agreement, take a decision or resolve a dispute. You learn the difference between positional negotiation, in which one side wins and the other loses, and integrative negotiation, in which both sides win, and why a compromise is not the same as a win-win solution. You focus on interests rather than positions and persuade without manipulation, while taking into account perception, emotional intelligence, power relations and cultural differences. You also learn when not to negotiate. The greatest source of negotiating power is self-knowledge.
Who it is for
For managers, entrepreneurs, sales and project teams, and anyone who wants to reach better agreements, at work and in private life.
What it looks like
Interactive workshops with negotiation simulations, case studies and feedback, so that you can put what you learn into practice straight away.

Mediation and conflict resolution

In person or online · group
What you learn
Conflicts are part of life, but they don't have to destroy relationships. You recognise your way of reacting in conflict according to the five styles of the Thomas-Kilmann model: competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding and accommodating. You learn when each style is useful and how to hear the interests and needs hidden behind demands. You get to know mediation, negotiation with the help of a neutral, trusted person: its phases, the role of the mediator, its rules and benefits, and its use in schools, families, workplaces and communities.
Who it is for
For managers and teams, teachers and school support staff, parents and anyone who wants to resolve conflicts more calmly and constructively.
What it looks like
Workshops with practical examples, role plays and guided exercises, in which you try out the steps of conflict resolution and mediation in a safe environment.

Teamwork and collaboration

In person or online · for teams and organisations
What you learn
A good team is more than the sum of its members. You learn how a team differs from a group, how a team is set up and organised, how to select members and assign roles according to Belbin's nine team roles, and which stages every team goes through, from forming and conflict to shared norms and full performance. We work on communication within the team, active listening and assertive expression, managing conflict and overcoming dysfunctions, leadership styles, and creative and effective decision-making.
Who it is for
For newly forming teams and those who want to work better, for team and project leaders, organisations, schools and associations.
What it looks like
Interactive workshops and team-building activities tailored to your team: from assessing effectiveness and a shared vision of the ideal team to a concrete development action plan.

Business ethics and corporate social responsibility

In person or online · for individuals, teams and organisations
What you learn
Why ethics and professional integrity are today a condition for long-term success, not just a nice word. You learn the basic concepts of ethics and morality, the main ethical theories (ethical egoism, utilitarianism, deontology and virtue ethics), the golden and platinum rules, and how to make an ethically acceptable decision when the law gives no answer. We look at ethics in marketing and advertising, employer–employee relations, transparency, a harassment-free workplace and whistleblowing. Corporate social responsibility is also part of it: the pyramid of social responsibility, from economic and legal to ethical and philanthropic, and responsibility towards society, the environment and the community.
Who it is for
For managers, marketing and communications professionals, HR, entrepreneurs and all organisations that want to build trust, reputation and a healthy work culture.
What it looks like
Lectures and workshops analysing real cases and ethical dilemmas from business practice, including drafting or refining a code of ethics and guidelines for your organisation.

Academic writing skills

In person or online · individual and group
What you learn
How to get from an idea to a finished paper. You learn to distinguish types of papers, from seminar, final and master's papers to doctoral theses, as well as professional and scientific articles, and what each of them requires. We lay the foundations through three questions: what you are researching, why it matters and how you will research it. We go through the structure of a paper, from the abstract and keywords through the introduction, literature review and methodology to the results, discussion and conclusion, as well as correct citation and referencing. For scientific papers you also learn how to choose a journal or conference, how to follow author guidelines and how to make your work visible in databases such as Web of Science, Scopus and Hrčak.
Who it is for
For students facing a final, master's or doctoral thesis, for young researchers and anyone who wants to publish a professional or scientific paper.
What it looks like
I teach you how to write your paper yourself, step by step, through workshops or individual mentoring, with feedback on your text. I pass on my experience as the author of numerous scientific papers and a lecturer of many years.

Research methods in the social sciences

In person or online · individual and group
What you learn
How to carry out research that gives reliable answers. We go through all stages of the research process: from theory and literature search, through constructs, operational definitions and variables, to formulating hypotheses and research questions. You learn to put together a good questionnaire and survey, choose measurement scales and attitude scales, word questions correctly and select a sample, and when it is better to run an experiment. You also get to know the Delphi method, which uses several rounds of anonymous questionnaires to reach expert consensus on a topic. In data analysis you learn to present data and use basic statistics: means and variability, standard error, the t-test, the chi-square test and correlation. We pay special attention to research ethics.
Who it is for
For students doing research for a final, master's or doctoral thesis, for young researchers and for professionals in organisations who want to carry out their own research, survey or analysis.
What it looks like
Clearly explained steps, examples from real research and practical exercises on your own data, through workshops or individual mentoring. The goal is for you to understand and carry out the research yourself.

There Is Always (Even) More Life

My journey through systemic constellations

For years I searched outside myself: I studied, read, researched, learned and tried out techniques and methods, travelled, talked with many wise people and went to many teachers. Every step gave me something, and yet something kept escaping me. I carried an inner pressure I couldn't explain, and wondered by what invisible rules our lives play out.

I found the answers where it all began: in my roots. Systemic constellations opened the way to them. In this book I share that journey honestly and personally: the insights that changed me for ever, stories from constellations and what they taught me about love, family and life.

In the book I write about:

  • why belonging is the deepest human need
  • how blind love for our family becomes love that sees
  • what radical acceptance means and how we grow up
  • how we receive life and pass it on
  • what success in life is and why ordinary happiness lasts
  • why a good life is possible for all of us

About me

Every journey begins with a single step.Something has brought you this far. The next step is yours. Let's take it together.

Tihana Babić, smiling, in front of a painting of the sea with a boat

For 20 years I have been consciously working on myself and with people who want to understand themselves, their relationships and the patterns holding them back, and to move towards a life that feels like their own.

At Progress Zone I combine what I know from science with what I have learned through numerous therapeutic trainings and, above all, through my own life. One path, many tools.

The people who can help us most are those who have walked the path we are walking now. They know what the darkness before a breakthrough looks like, because they have stood in it. They know that the night is darkest before the dawn and that there is a way out, because they found it.
Tihana Babić sitting among the roots of a large plane tree
Only a tree deeply rooted in the soil it grew from can rise towards the sky.

My journey

Curiosity

I have always been interested in how life and the world work, what is visible and also what lies behind it. That curiosity led me to study philosophy, and I was especially intrigued by ethics: what is right to do and how to live a life worth living. So I became a teacher of philosophy and ethics, and also of Croatian culture, because I believe that only a tree deeply rooted in the soil it grew from can rise towards the sky. At the same time I studied administrative law, because I was interested in how real, material relations between people are organised and governed. In this way two worlds met within me: the tangible one, and the one we cannot see but which in fact guides us by certain invisible laws.

Science and the soul

I hold a PhD in communication studies, which helps me greatly in expressing both thoughts and feelings. Yet our professional knowledge of the human soul is often superficial. As psychiatrist Robert Torre says: “Here the heart matters more than the brain. The soul matters more than clever talk, and practice more than theory.” Emotions are usually stronger than all our knowledge, and reason has no power to heal what is irrational. If we have gathered wounds through relationships, illness, exhausting jobs or financial worries, thinking and intelligence alone cannot heal them. If they could, educated people would long ago have turned their lives into fairy tales. Experience shows us that this is not so.

A negative emotional experience can only be healed by a good emotional experience.

That is why I believe we are helped most by people who are better and wiser not only as professionals, but as human beings. People who have themselves gone through the transformation from difficult life situations to joy, ease and accepting life as a gift. They know what the darkness before a breakthrough looks like and they know there is a way out. Someone like that can help us open the door and hold a safe space while we step into a new experience ourselves.

Experience as a teacher

My journey began 20 years ago. My teacher used to say that we can only be recognised by someone who is at the same level as us or higher. We can show others the path we have walked ourselves and take them as far as we ourselves can open up, to insights, but also to empathy for human hearts, which are often hurt.

Experience has taught me that life often wraps a gift in difficult experiences. The path we have walked and what we have healed in ourselves becomes a signpost to everything that is possible for the people around us. It has also taught me that nothing happens by chance. However chaotic the world may sometimes seem, behind everything there are deeper laws, logic and love. Even the fact that you are reading these lines right now is no accident.

Every flaw carries the seed of a virtue, and every difficult experience the possibility of what is yet to come.

What I've learned

There is no success and no failure, only feedback!

Everything is just feedback.

What we call failure shows us what doesn't work and points us towards what does. What we call success is just a moment on the way, not a destination where we stop. When we understand this, we stop fearing mistakes and start to dare.

So what is success?

We don't all start from the same position. We don't have the same circumstances, the same talents and abilities, or the same number of people supporting us. So we don't all define success in the same way either. What is the peak for one person is only the beginning for another.

Og Mandino said that we can rarely agree on what success means to us, yet we all describe failure in the same way: failure is when we don't manage to fulfil the desires of our heart. And I would add: it's not over until it's over. Let's just not give up!

No one knows how many steps it is to the goal. Success may be hiding around the next corner, so we never know how close we are unless we keep walking. Every “no” brings us closer to a “yes”, and we often have to make many mistakes to succeed once. Just as we need the night to appreciate the day.

Mandino also suggests a lovely balance: when we feel inadequate, let us remember our successes, and when we become overconfident, let us remember our failures. And in the end, it is better to act and make a mistake than to do nothing and wander without direction.

That is why only we ourselves can define success and failure, according to what truly matters to us and who we want to become. We give meaning to our own lives and we decide what a life worth living is for us.

These thoughts on success and failure are inspired by Og Mandino's book The Greatest Salesman in the World , retold in my own words.

Inspiration

Ten vows of success

Thoughts that have accompanied me for years and helped me when things were hard. These are their most important messages, as I have understood them and as I live them.

Tihana Babić smiling at a viewpoint above the sea at sunset
First vowStop belittling yourself.

There is no life that is not traumatic in some way. Even the most successful people fall; they have simply learned that every fall is part of the journey. As the saying goes: “The master has failed more times than the beginner has even tried.” Every mistake gives us feedback and shows us where to look for a better solution.

Second vowGreet each day with a plan.

Keep big dreams in your heart, and every morning set small goals you can achieve that day. Day by day, step by step, they build something big. And remember: you are worth as much as you value yourself.

Third vowNurture delight and enthusiasm.

Behind every great work there is passion. The attitude with which we approach work and life changes everything: with delight and enthusiasm even ordinary things become easier, and the day gains meaning.

Fourth vowBe kind to everyone.

No one succeeds alone. And no one gets far alone. What we give to others comes back to us one way or another. A smile, a sincere word of praise and a small kindness open hearts and doors that anger and complaining keep closed.

Fifth vowIn every adversity, look for the seed of victory.

Hard times awaken courage and strength in us, gifts that would stay dormant on easy days. Just as a gem cannot be polished without friction, we grow through challenges. And when the first pain passes, we can ask ourselves: how can I turn what has happened to me into something good?

Sixth vowGive more than is expected.

Go the extra mile, not for the reward, but for the satisfaction of a job well done. Happiness depends greatly on having something to devote ourselves to. Just as a river must flow so as not to stagnate, we too need something that keeps the currents of our life moving.

Seventh vowFocus on what matters now.

Scattered energy leaves no trace. Like a sunbeam through a magnifying glass, focused attention can light a fire even on the coldest day. And a drop of water, falling persistently on the same spot, will in time hollow out the hardest stone.

Eighth vowDon't wait for opportunity, look for it.

Opportunities rarely come announced. They are often hidden in ordinary work and small things. Cheerful, confident people create more opportunities than they find. Opportunity rarely knocks on our door by itself. It answers when we knock, often and loudly.

Ninth vowReview your day every evening.

Not to judge yourself, but to learn. What went well today, and what can I do better tomorrow? In this way each day becomes the foundation for the next. Whoever takes an honest look at themselves every evening will, in time, become their own best friend.

Tenth vowStay connected with what is greater than you.

In success and failure, in joy and pain, prayer and faith light a lamp that guides us through doubt and darkness. As long as there is faith, there is hope and courage. It doesn't take big words: the simpler the prayer, the closer it is to the heart.

One more thing

Everything is a choice

In life we are constantly choosing. Whether we decide to do something or decide to continue down the path we have been on, it is a choice. Even not deciding is a choice.

If we are not where we want to be, then the mindset that brought us here will not take us there. There is something that guides us, but taking a new step requires a shift in our attitude, our thoughts and the emotional charge we carry. In other words, it requires a change in the way we think.

Psychologist Carol Dweck of Stanford University described two basic ways in which we view our own abilities. Researchers Ashley Buchanan and Margaret Kern later added a third.

Fixed mindsetFixed way of thinking“This is how I am, and it won't change.”

We believe that our abilities, talent and intelligence are fixed and unchangeable. So we avoid challenges, experience mistakes as proof that we are not good enough, and see others' success as a threat. When things get hard, we give up quickly.

Growth mindsetGrowth way of thinking“I don't know this yet, but I can learn.”

We believe that abilities develop through effort, learning and good strategies. Challenges become opportunities, mistakes become feedback, and others' success becomes inspiration. The key is the little word “yet”.

Benefit mindsetContributing way of thinking“How can my growth benefit others too?”

We ask not only how to become the best in the world, but also how to be the best for the world. We grow with meaning and a sense of belonging, and use our knowledge and talents in ways that contribute to the wellbeing of others, our community and the world around us.

The good news is that a mindset is not fixed once and for all. Nobody has only one of them, and we all sometimes slip into the fixed one. Changing beliefs is not a magic wand, but with effort, support and good strategies it makes a big difference. Every time we notice an old pattern, we can choose differently. And that is exactly where progress begins.

Now that we know this, let's choose again, but this time consciously!

May our every thought, word and deed be coloured by what the Bible says:

“Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”Philippians 4:8

Technology in the service of people

I hold a PhD in communication studies and mass media, a field that also covers technology: how it changes the way we communicate and how it can serve people.

For years I worked in computing on business solutions. That experience grew into my work on application solutions, in which I combine knowledge of technology with an understanding of people, communication and learning.

Active projects

01 · A Progress Zone project

Wellbeing: Holistik Hub

An online community for whole-person wellbeing that brings together, in one place, those who seek and those who provide services for spirit, mind and body: members, therapists, coaches and organisations. It is designed as a “silo” app, one platform that combines the features of many apps, from search and bookings to events and community. The model can also be adapted to other communities, such as multisport, dance or distributor networks.

Members find therapists, coaches, workshops and events in one place, book sessions, leave reviews and connect with like-minded people. Service providers and organisations get a profile, visibility and tools for bookings and events, and basic use is free. Alongside the platform we are building the Holistik Hub channel, with podcasts, videos, articles, conferences and other events, together with partners who share the same vision. The founding team includes developer Albert Gregl and Iva Gašpar, responsible for operations, partnerships and events.

02 · Partner project

Smart classroom: WebBoard

A system for colleges and education centres that brings teaching, enrolment and documentation together in one place: an online classroom with whiteboard and video, lecture recording, attendance records, timetables and documents for adult education. Learner data is entered only once and follows the learner from enrolment to certificate.

Teachers and learners work in the browser, with no installation: video, a shared whiteboard, presentations and full-room recording are all in one place. The system also covers curriculum and hours records, assignments and grades, exam periods, proctored exams, a library and reports for the Croatian Employment Service (HZZ) and the Agency for VET and Adult Education (ASOO). Servers are in the EU, and each institution sets its own roles, permissions and data retention periods. If an institution is switching from another platform, we help with data entry, and cooperation starts with a 25-minute demo and a pilot with one group, with no obligation.
